Reinventing Ourselves: The Next Blessed Chapter
with Robert Roskind

In today’s fast changing environments we are being called on to constantly learn and grow and to often go through life-changing events that cause us to have to reinvent ourselves. Sometimes these events are pleasurable like a spiritual awakening, the birth of a child, meeting a mate, beginning your life work. Other times they are painful involving a physical, financial, spiritual, or relationship “crisis.” In either case, these are the milestone markers on our path – in fact they are our path – and they are all for our highest good. As a veteran of countless, reinventions, Robert will discuss how to navigate these life changes with calm and clarity – no matter how intense they might appear.

Robert Roskind is the author of twelve books including Rasta Heart: A Journey into One Love, The Beauty Path: A Native American Journey into One Love, The Gathering of the Healers, In the Spirit of Marriage and In the Spirit of Business. He is also the producer of a record-breaking PBS series and the organizer of over 200 One Love Events in the U.S. and Jamaica. He lives in Carrboro and operates the Oasis.

Seeing Archetypes: A Jungian view of the Tarot A conversation
with Kenneth Turner, PhD (Board Secretary for the Jung Society of the Triangle)

Carl Jung, arguably the most important psychologist of the last century, was first a younger colleague, later a rival of Sigmund Freud. In contrast to Freud’s materialistic model of our human nature, which sought to increase happiness by adjusting us to the demands of society, Jung had a more expanded view of humanity. He sought, not adjustment, but what he termed Individuation, the process of becoming who we were meant to be. He discovered, beyond the personal unconscious that Freud had worked with, a more extensive realm he called the Collective Unconscious – psychic contents and processes common to everybody, everywhere. In this inner world, he found the basis for all the myths and ideas of the world, which he called the ‘Archetypes’.

We will look at the major arcana, the special trump cards of the Tarot as examples of archetypal images, and show how they may be seen as a map of the process of individuation. Because archetypes are by definition, dynamic patterns in the unconscious, they can never be fully defined, but only experienced with variable intensity and consciousness. The particular arrangement of the cards we shall use, though not the Jungian interpretation, is due to Paul Foster Case.

The speaker has studied this material for many years, and has found it very helpful in organizing and understanding his own inner life. Kenneth Turner brings a variety of life experience to his work with people. He earned a PhD in Physics (Princeton, 1962), an MA in Humanistic and Transpersonal Psychology (University of West Georgia, 2007), and passed the National Counselors exam. He has been an astronomer, an administrator, a federal bureaucrat, an executive at a high tech start-up company, a college professor, an entrepreneur, and a psychotherapist. He has married, helped raise children (his own and others), lived abroad, been widowed twice, and retired. Kenneth holds certifications in the Body Centered Transformation work of Gay and Katlyn Hendricks, and in the Enneagram approach of Kathy Hurley and Theodorre Donson. He is an authorized facilitator for the Institute of Noetic Sciences Conscious Aging program and has been involved with Jungian psychology for more than forty years.

Living an Inspired & Mystical Life

with Oasis founder Robert Roskind, author of A Guide for an Awakening Planet

It so easy to lapse into leading a mundane life full of all the details modern life seems to demand of us. However, living an ispired life is simple (but simple is not always easy). Just use unconditional love for all as your homing beacon. In essence, just claim your Divinely-given, and pre-incarnated acceptance of, your assignment as a teacher of love. Then determine your greatest gifts (music, writing, child-rearing, counseling, painting, caring for the elderly, etc.) and use these to most effectively undertake your assignment.

MERobert Roskind is the author of twelve books including Rasta Heart: A Journey into One Love, The Beauty Path: A Native American Journey into One Love, The Gathering of the Healers, In the Spirit of Marriage and In the Spirit of Business. Sound, Breath and Meditation Workshop
With Dante Baker, 200 Hour RYT

Experience sounds from the Tibetan and modern crystal bowl during the breathing exercises and meditation to re-harmonize the entire body. Allow the sound vibrations to soothe the mind, clear any blockages within the body and guide you into the present moment.

All levels of practitioners are welcome to deepen their understanding, heighten their awareness and strengthen application of meditation and breathing exercises while using Tibetan Singing and Modern Singing Bowls. Discover how controlled breathing not only keeps the mind and body functioning optimally, but it will also lower blood pressure, promote a calm and relaxing mind-set and help students de-stress.

Different Meditation techniques can relax the body while keeping the mind singularly focused. When this is done regularly, a deep sense of inner peace, mental clarity and tranquility is cultivated with the practitioner.

Throughout history many ancient civilizations and cultures have used crystals and stones for a numerous purposes such as healing, meditating, activating and strengthening psychic abilities. Within the last century, modern society has discovered, and continues to discover, the powerful and healing effects the singing bowls can produce with the backing of science. The quality of the materials and the structure of these bowls are highly important as these two foundations are what produce the harmonic sounds; while Tibetan bowls are made of brass and copper, crystal bowls are formed from mostly pure crushed quartz and heated in high boiling temperature in a centrifugal shape. The sounds that are created when the bowls are struck with a mallet, release a powerful and potent sound vibration, with the larger bowls creating a deeper and longer reverberation due to the size and amount of crystal used. Each bowl is tested with digital technology to identify its unique sound, with each sound corresponding to a particular note, similar to notes of a piano.

Dante Baker has been a native to the Washington DC area his entire life, growing up in Reston, VA. Since his childhood years, Dante has always had a fascination with the human anatomy and all of its abilities to heal, move, and process. This interest led Dante to studying and receiving certifications through AFAA and NASM in 2007. As he pursued personal training he worked with wide a range of clients such as over-weight clients, young athletes and elderly adults. As he gained more experience and confidence in his teaching he extended his expertise to larger classes such as boot camp, athletic conditioning, kids physical education, kickboxing and body pump.

Dante personally trains and sees private clients for massage, physical exercise and Reiki, teaches meditation, yoga, qi gong classes, performs crystal and Tibetan Sound Concerts. His personal philosophy is that the body has an innate wisdom within itself and the tools and services he provides, allows the body to perform the healing that it knows how to do.
