Wisdom WednesdaysPersonal Boundaries: When Are We Giving to Others at Too Great a Cost to Ourselves

This February, Robert will be hosting “Wisdom Wednesdays.” Each evening we will reflect on a subject that many are struggling with and seeking to get or share wisdom in these very powerful areas of our lives, areas that are often avoided in everyday human discourse.

The first half hour will be presentations by Robert and/or short video clips from various wisdom keepers. The second half hour will be a “talking stick segment” as anyone who feels guided to can share their wisdom, challenges or insights. The goal is to join together more as community to assist each other in the challenging times we incarnated into so that we might assist others that are sent to us. Though we will certainly discuss both the emotional and mental aspects, the emphasis will be on how do we, as evolving spiritual beings going through many incarnations effectively deal with these issues and emotions.

The subjects include:
Wednesday February 5: Personal Boundaries: When Are We Giving to Others at Too Great a Cost to Ourselves
Wednesday February 12: Anxiety: Calming Ourselves In the Midst of It All
Wednesday February 19: Depression: Staying Awake on a Sleeping Planet

RESCHEDULED TO THE SPRING

Memoirs of an Ex Hippie– a one man play

The counterculture of the 60s and 70s has been viewed as everything from naive to hedonistic. However, most of these views were formed by observing the movement from the outside. “Memoirs of an Ex-Hippie” offers a vastly different perspective, one developed from within. After graduating college in 1968, Robert Roskind hit the road for seven years. Roskind’s travels lead him into the heart of the counterculture–to Esalen Institute, Tassajara Hot Springs, Big Sur, Vancouver Island, the communes of Oregon and North Carolina, Altamont Pop Festival, Mt. Shasta, the Haight-Ashbury and the “motherland”–Northern California. His personal odyssey, sometimes profane and funny, sometimes profound and serious, reveals this tumultuous era as a cultural and spiritual renaissance that birthed many of the solutions to problems humanity now faces.

Sunday FEB 9th 6:30-8:30pm
CLIMATE DESTABILIZATION

VIDEO & DISCUSSION NIGHT

We are at a crossroads in our history. We are on the precipice of destroying our habitat, the very earth that gives us sustenance and supports life. Our multiple challenges of climate change, deforestation, overgrazing, fisheries collapse, food insecurity, and the rapid extinction of species are all part of a single, over-arching problem: Humanity has overshot the carrying capacity of the Earth.

Join with others willing to honestly face our situation and have the most important discussion of our lives: how we pull out of our ecological nosedive and transition to a life-affirming global culture, an earth community of sustainability, justice, and peace!

We show a different video each session and discuss a range of important issues and options to address them. For detailed information on each session, see https://betseydowning.com/upcoming-events/ . Information will be posted 5-6 days prior to the event.

In these sessions we focus on creating resilience, both individually and in community. It includes personal practices such as deep breathing and meditation to calm and center ourselves, as well as actions we can take in our communities to adapt to the coming changes brought on by climate destabilization. Bring your comments, questions, ideas, and friends! Free! Open to all!  Presented by the Citizens Climate Collaborative: Betsey Downing, Tana Hartman Thorn, Dirk Kelder, and Jim Sander.

A Presentation and Demonstration of an Energy Healing Technique, The Emotion Code with Kezia Renee Lechner

Although I have been a Transformational Intuitive Coach, a Reiki Master/ Energy Healer for a number of years, I recently became a certified practitioner of a technique called The Emotion Code and find it to be one of the most effective tools in my toolbox!
The Emotion Code is a simple, yet powerful energy healing modality. This technique allows trapped negative emotions we’ve all accumulated over the course of our lifetime, to be easily released. Trapped emotions are stored and held in the body and in the energy field, existing often below the level of our conscious mind. These lodged emotions affect our health on all levels of body, mind and spirit. They contribute to physical imbalances, hold us back in our lives and block us from more easily manifesting our deepest desires.
With this technique, a practitioner helps you to identify an issue that is challenging for you, and then, via muscle testing, the practitioner determines which specific trapped emotions have contributed to holding that issue/challenge/pattern in place, uncovers when it originated, and then releases it.
In my presentation, I will explain the process and will do a hands on demonstration with several people. Unfortunately, I can’t work with everyone, but will work with as many people as I’m able to. Come learn about and witness this fascinating, powerful healing technique!
An intuitive empath, with the ability to read energies, Kezia Renee works as a Transformational Intuitive Coach, Reiki Master/ Energy Healer and Emotion Code practitioner. She provides in person sessions locally and also offers Transformational Intuitive Coaching , as well as Emotion Code sessions by phone or Skype. To learn more about Kezia and find her contact information ~ visit www.OpenintoChange.com or www.HeartofaHealer.com ~

Never Dead Poets Society

John Keats (1795 – 1821), a poet, from the English Romantic Era was a main figure of the second generation of Romantic poets. He famously stated, “The poetry of the earth is never dead”.

My name is Rose Fields, I’m 27 years old and from the small town of Pikeville, here in NC. I lacked stability in my childhood and supplemented with reading and writing. Falling in love with poetry at a young age, I turned to it to connect and express. In return poetry allowed me to channel my feelings and redirect them in a healthy way. Poetry is a peaceful outlet for self-expression, in addition to, the processing of emotions. I often say, to write a poem is to have a conversation with one’s intrinsic, otherwise-neglected self. I wanted to create a safe place for young people to connect with one another and process through the more convoluted aspects of life. Thus, the Never Dead Poets Society was born! Whether you are a writer, a listener, or a reader, you are welcome to come join this group!

A typical meeting consists of reading, writing, and creating a prompt for the future meeting. This keeps all involved writing and processing through a collection of topics decided on and discussed throughout each meeting. Our group is not full of writers by trade, though we do have a few accomplished writers in the group. I, myself am a science major…if that helps you to feel more comfortable with your background. Everyone has the ability to write poetry! Although this group is centered on the collaborative experiences of young adults, anyone can come and participate! Please feel free to contact me with the email provided below with any further questions. Email: charleyfields.chapelhill@gmail.com

With all that talent, Forget the Outro can’t help but bring songs to life!
